Jesus I wish I could come over there and lend a hand straightening the place out. But I'm glad to read you've made some progress on sorting the place out yourself, the big thing you need to tell yourself is you don't need to have the place perfect in a single day, just doing a little piece by piece as best you can manage will help a lot. I've helped several of my neighbors around where I live with similar living conditions, and that's how I approached cleaning up their homes. You shouldn't feel any shame in reaching out like this, it can happen to anyone. I've had long periods of time where I neglect to take care of myself as well, though I've gotten better about that as of late. I'm not sure if you can manage it with your current situation and all, but maybe you can get ahold of a cheap rug to at least cover up that exposed wood floor. I also agree with what a few others have said: You need to see about getting some legal help here because this shit isn't right.

I'm wondering if them selling out is really necessary or not. They could be hemorrhaging money by running Discord at this point because of how big it is, and if that's the case it's hard to say what an alternative would be, force a subscription model? That'd kill the program faster than anything else. What else could be done in a situation like this? Give the program to the public and let it become totally self hosted? That'd probably kill a lot of servers, though a lot of them will be on the chopping block anyway as things get worse. It feels like a catch 22 to me and just the general life cycle of social software: new thing introduced, new thing is pretty good, people join, thing gets bigger, more people join, costs go up for thing to exist, money gets involved, thing becomes shittier to the point where people abandon it, new thing introduced and the cycle repeats. A way to break this cycle would be nice, but I'll be damned if I can think of one.

I just make shit and I don't really care about the algorithm. If people see my work, they see it. If not, well that sucks but I'm gonna keep making stuff. I admittedly don't get many eyes on the things I make, but that's just how it is.

Wasn't one of the driving factors for some people to vote for the guy was because of egg prices though? Also didn't he interfere with systems that would have helped control and contain the outbreak? I beat Mega Man Battle Network 1 a few days ago, I had never played the first game before and goddamn it is ROUGH compared to the rest of the series, the big thing I noticed is how sticky and commital a lot of attacks are, like you're rooted to the ground for a half second/second with each attack and that's just not present in the rest of the series, enemies in general are very quick too. So it can be a bit of an uphill battle, also felt like I was constantly struggling to get cool and interesting battle chips. The dungeons also sucked. But even with all that, I am glad I played it, it makes me appreciate the series for its improvements. MMBN2 was my first in the series and having started it shortly after beating 1 I can really feel the improvements right away, though I think style change system kinda sucks as it kinda strong arms you into playing a specific way if you want a useful form.

Yeah, that's where the whole "giving people enough time to unfuck things" remark comes from. I said this before back in November but I made the mistake of not bothering to vote back in 2016 because I didn't like my options. Never doing that shit again, I can promise you all that.

It fucking sucks, but given the choice between voting for: A) A party that wants to make everything shitty RIGHT NOW. B) A party that wants to make everything shitty in a slow decline. or C) A potentially well-meaning third party that has no real power. I'll take B. I don't like it either but at least stalling for time can give people a chance to figure shit out and hopefully unfuck things rather than taking the express route to everything going to hell in a handbasket.

I live in an apartment complex with subsidized housing and a lot of older retired folks living off Social Security. This is going to be a complete shitshow. Really I might be on this chopping block too as I'm relying on subsidized housing to stay in my damn apartment.

So I've asked before if you guys have any random clownboat things you do while on the job, but what about when you're back at the bar and getting ready to wrap up with your buddies? My favorite thing to do (much to the dismay of one of my friends) is to make a beeline for the bar and repeatedly order and drink Glyphid Slammers til I pass out. He's got to the point where he'll close the lobby right after I order my first round and before I take a drink.

Doom, a lot of Doom. Mainly while I edit and playtest my gameplay mods. But besides that I've been on a Mega Man kick again, been playing the Make a Good Mega Man Level contest series, and I think I'll be diving into Mega Man Battle Network soon. Though I did also replay Webbed a few days ago, very cozy game.

To those of you that frequent youtube a lot, I'd recommend looking into the Unhook browser extension, cus it lets you adjust how much of youtube's bullshit you want to see. Very useful in gutting the stupid algorithm nonsense.

I'm going to be honest, I think people have to genuinely suffer the consequences before they learn. There has to be a collapse, I don't think there's any other way. It can't just be a little pain, a lot of people who didn't take Trump seriously are going to go without medical care or food before they understand why the Republican goals are bad. From everyone who didn't vote to people who voted for this. And no, I'm not advocating that it happens, it's going to kill tens of thousands, possibly millions over years. But Americans aren't going to learn unless they learn the hard way going hungry and unable to sleep because of their medical bills. Yes, this isn't a good thing, and I don't want it to happen. This is going to absolutely suck. This isn't coming from doomerism, but cynicism. I am hopeful that things can get better, but they will get worse first.

They'll just blame it on Biden/Democrats/Woke, because I'm certain most of them would sooner die before blaming their current figurehead or themselves for voting in the current figurehead.

I don't want them buying games, especially not older ones. I've mentioned this before but the way their stores work is once something is deemed unsalable for whatever arbitrary reason, it's destroyed. When I used to work at my local fucking Gamestop I remember my manager actually having to call the distract manager because he had to personally come down and destroy games, guides, and other items with his bare hands before throwing them away. Fuck this company, keep them away from vidya.
